Have your say @ Ainslie shops pop‑ups

The ACT Government is consulting on the best future for the disused community building at 91A Wakefield Avenue, behind the Ainslie shops.

The old wooden building has long been an important community hub and is an integral part of our valuable green space, Wakefield Gardens. The Canberra Mothercraft Society provided services from the building from the 1920s–1990s, Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health Services from 1998–2005, and it was a Child Health Clinic in the 1950s and 60s.

Following decades of neglect and a recent fire, the remaining structure of the building will be demolished. This creates an opportunity for us to imagine how this space could serve our community in the future.

You can attend an ACT Government community pop-up session at the Ainslie shops to have your say on how this important community space could be used.

Pop-up session times are:

  • Tuesday 23 Sept – 7:30am to 9:30am
  • Thursday 25 Sept – 2:30pm to 4:30pm
  • Saturday 27 Sept – 10:00am to 12:00pm
  • Saturday 4 Oct – 9:30am to 11:30am
  • Tuesday 14 Oct – 10:00am to 12:00pm
  • Wednesday 15 Oct – 2:30pm to 4:30pm.
